Trainee Michael Cox has picked up a plumb prize on the path to a promising career by winning the West Midlands Plumbing Apprentice of the Year Award.
The 23-year-old with leading Birmingham-based building services provider JS Wright, was honoured for his exceptional skills and competence in the West Midlands Regional Training Awards.
Michael Cox, who lives in Castle Bromwich, received his trophy from leading training provider BEST (Building Engineering Services Training) in a ceremony at JS Wright's Aston head office.
The judges were Sarah Wicks, HVCA head of education & training, David Brown from sponsor Peglar Yorkshire Fittings, and Frank Hall from Smethwick Heating.
One of ten apprentices who received the highest standards of personal development training in the new JS Wright Academy, Michael has also completed his NVQ level 2 in plumbing and is working towards his Level 3 certificate.
In his first three years with JS Wright, he has worked on a number of Birmingham projects including student accommodation in Bath Row and Curzon Street apartments in Granville Street, and is now working on homes at Water Street.
Paul Millington, contracts support manager, said: 'Michael has developed from an unsure school leaver into a confident and competent apprentice. He thoroughly deserves his success.'
