HVCA site safety guide launched
The essential guide, updated into 18 sections of crucial information for any building site, is an invaluable supportive tool for anyone embarking on the Health and Safety assessment test, which must be completed before a SKILLcard can be issued or renewed.

The JS1 Worksafe - Guide to Site Safety begins by identifying key safety signs and signals, emergency procedures and first aid. It also steers the reader through fire prevention and control and gives advice on lifting and carrying.

Bob Towse, head of the HVCA Technical & Safety Department, said: 'The new Guide has taken over a year to revise and extend so that it provides valuable information for those preparing for the SKILLcard Health and Safety assessment test. While passing the SKILLcard Health and Safety test is important, the new Guide is more than just help in preparing for the test: it is comprehensive and informative, and is aimed at giving those who work on site vital knowledge that will aid them in assessing potentially dangerous situations.'

The HVCA's Worksafe - Guide to Site Safety is available exclusively from HVCA Publications by calling 01768 860405 or by visiting www.hvca.org.uk/publications.

Carbon reductions for northern arena

The company has produced a designed system based on its R290 high-temperature heat pump. This arena regularly hosts large events such as concerts, conferences, theatre plays, exhibitions, live music and other conventions – so the site must have an energy efficient and carbon-reducing hot water system to achieve NetZero.
