President of the Heat Pump Association Mike Nankivell said: “We are truly delighted to offer our support to World Refrigeration Day. Initiatives such as this are necessary to help raise and increase awareness of the remarkable benefits that air conditioning, refrigeration and heat pumps deliver in so many aspects of our every day life.'
Mr Nankivell continued: “Globally, heat pump technologies dominate in most air conditioning applications but it is less well appreciated by the general public that these applications are not only providing comfort cooling in warm conditions but also efficient heating, when required, from the same system, completely doing away with the need for environmentally undesirable, fossil fuel based secondary heating.”
Concluding, Mike Nankivell observed: “Heating only heat pumps today offer a viable, reliable, efficient and low carbon alternative to conventional, gas or oil combustion based central heating in our homes. Whilst market demand for residential heat pumps is growing, events such as World Refrigeration Day can usefully reinforce the message that alternatives to fossil fuel heating systems are fast becoming an environmental imperative”.
