HEVAC launches white paper on evaporative cooling

A new white paper on evaporative cooling and cold water humidifiers has been launched by HEVAC's Humidity Group and presents evaporative cooling as an alternative or supplement to mechanical cooling.
HEVAC launches white paper on evaporative cooling
The publication provides an overview of evaporative cooling and how it can be incorporated into cooling systems, a comparison of mechanical and evaporative cooling, descriptions of the different types of products available and outlines typical applications of the technique.

FETA director general, Cedric Sloan, said: 'The potential of cold water humidifiers to deliver low energy and low cost cooling is enormous. 1kW of electricity supplied to a cold water humidifier can potentially deliver up to 700kW of evaporative cooling to an atmosphere.

'Applications range from data centres and offices to manufacturing facilities and outdoor events. It can be used to directly cool an area or as part of an air handling unit's overall cooling strategy. We hope this white paper provides UK building services engineers with a valuable insight into how to implement this important and under-exploited cooling method.'

The Humidity Group is a part of HEVAC within the Federation of Environmental Trade Associations. It was formed to create awareness and understanding of the importance of humidity in commercial, industrial and domestic environments.

The white paper is available for download from the Humidity Group's section at www.feta.co.uk
