HETAS receives European certification

HETAS has been approved by the European Pellet Council as the only UK accreditation body for the ENplus scheme.
HETAS receives European certification
ENplus is a Europe wide quality assurance system for wood pellets which sets out minimum standards for ash content, ash melting temperature, pellet size, dust, moisture content and heat output.

Mark Russell from HETAS said: 'ENplus means that producers and traders can prove their product quality is managed throughout the entire supply chain including production, storage and transport. For their customers it means reliable heating - vital for commercial users such as schools, businesses and local authorities.'

It already runs the Solid Biomass Assurance Scheme (SBAS) which was launched last year with the support of government funding from the Department of the Environment and Climate Change (DECC). SBAS offers suppliers and customers an independent quality assurance system for logs, chips, briquettes and pellets.

HETAS also runs a widely recognised competent persons scheme for installers, a new scheme for approved retailers and publishes the annual HETAS Guide which is an essential reference handbook for anyone installing or specifying solid fuel equipment. HETAS is also the only body which has a Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) for both installers and equipment.

Details of approved installers, retailers, equipment and fuel suppliers can be found online at www.hetas.co.uk or in the latest copy of the HETAS Guide.
