HETAS has appointed Howard Reed in the new position of training manager.
Reed has worked in the plumbing industry for 40 years, including several years teaching at the Cardiff Institute of Higher Education, and graduating from the University of Wales with a Bachelor of Education Honours Degree.
He also had 18 years experience in assessing operatives for CORGI.
Reed will be responsible for restructuring the HETAS training courses and developing HETAS approved training centres throughout the UK.
HETAS plans to build on its current course structure by introducing practical assessments and revising the technical content of the course manuals.
These new assessments will allow candidates opportunities to work on appliances and familiarise themselves with the testing processes required in the training centres.
In order to accommodate the changes in the structure of the training programmes, HETAS is working with centres across the UK which are able to provide the relevant facilities for the assessments.
This training, development and technical support for the candidates will help reduce complaints and provide customers of HETAS registered companies a higher level of commitment in providing installation that is safe and compliant with all of the building regulations.
