Heating oil thefts double

Thefts of heating oil in Cornwall and Devon from properties have doubled in a year.
Devon and Cornwall Police announced the increase in the number of incidents of heating oil theft from 120 incidents in winter 2010/11 compared to 58 in 2009/10.

The police suggest that tank owners should protect their oil with locks or even CCTV, and to install level meters to ensure that owners are aware of how much they have in reserve and if they have been broken into.

I cant believe oil theft is still an issue. Oil is ridiculously over-priced so people steal it. Using oil to heat your house no longer makes sense.

If you replace your oil boiler with a heat pump no one steals it, there are no more deliveries, the price of electricity is fairly stable with no seasonal fluctuations and its half the cost to run. Join the 21st Century - buy a heat pump.
