Grundfos' Mexico factory gets royal seal of approval

Pump supplier Grundfos Pumps' 12m factory in Mexico has been officially opened by Her Majesty Queen Margrethe of Denmark.
The factory based in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, is just part of the Grundfos investment planned for the country.

By 2010 its investment in infrastructure is expected to reach £35m at which point the number of local employees will have risen to 500.

Grundfos have had a presence in the Mexican market since 1994, when they opened a sales firm close to Monterrey.

The Mexican factory employs 150 people. The Grundfos Group employs 15,000 people worldwide in 72 companies. Founded in Denmark in 1945, the Grundfos group produces more than 10m pumps per year.

Grundfos hopes their new facility will help them deliver their products directly to source within a short delivery timescale.

Group president Niels Due Jensen said 'In Mexico we have found highly qualified staff, a very good infrastructure and positive authorities and we already feel at home here'.
