Free seminar addresses move towards low GWP refrigerants

AirSource is hosting a free workshop to inform engineers, installers and commercial property owners of the new EU regulations regarding the phase down of high global warming potential refrigerants over the next two years.

Held at Friends House on Euston Road, London on Monday, 24 October, the seminar will discuss the possible risks to businesses of refrigerant supply shortages resulting in spiralling costs from 2018.

AirSource is bringing the seminar to London after successfully hosting it in Manchester earlier this year.

Dave Williamson, director of Danfoss Turbocor Compressors, was the keynote speaker at the Manchester event and will speak again in October, using his wealth of industry experience to break down changes to the law and what they mean for industry professionals that own, design or install air conditioning units high GWP refrigerants such as R410A

Mr WIlliamson has more than four decades of experience working in the field with companies such as Carrier (France) and Bitzer (Germany) and today collaborates with independent chiller manufacturers across Europe and the Middle East.

The workshops have been designed and funded by AirSource, an industry-leading manufacturer of heating and cooling systems, to address safety concerns surrounding the regulation review.

AirSource managing director, David Clayton will also share expertise at the event, which will cover Atex ratings, flammability classifications, equipment location, occupancy classification and the future of multi-split systems.

He explained: 'Following plenty of positive feedback from our first workshop, we realised there was demand for information from across the whole UK.

'The EU is moving to minimise the negative environmental effects from HVAC systems, which will involve a phase-down mechanism involving a gradually declining cap on HFCs in the market from 2016.

The event begins at 6.30pm and takes place in the Margaret Fell Room at Friends House, 173-177 Euston Road, London, NW1 2BJ. Further details and free registration can be found at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/moving-towards-low-gwp-refrigerants-by-2018-are-you-ready-tickets-26825936097
