After nearly 50 years in the industry and 20 years with BEAMA, latterly as its Executive Chairman, Dave Dossett has retired.
His roles have included: Director of EIEMA, Director General and Chief Executive of BEAMA and Director of the Installation Sector.
To honour his achievements, BEAMA organised a surprise reception attended by colleagues, industry figures and his family at West Ham United's Upton Park ground - Dave Dossett has been a life-long 'Hammers' supporter.
A surprised Dave Dossett received several gifts to mark the occasion, including a West Ham 'Dossett' shirt signed by the team.
Dr Howard Porter, BEAMA's CEO, said: 'Dave is a great inspiration. BEAMA is now in a strong marketplace position and highly regarded - thanks to his drive and the remarkable contribution he has made in shaping the organisation over the years.
'He has been a key industry figure - uniquely from both the UK and European perspectives - through his work with the Electrical Safety Council, Orgalime, Cenelec and AMDEA.
'He has had critical roles defending the UK's position in the battle over the harmonisation of plugs and sockets, in driving the industry-united anti-counterfeit campaigns, on standards and approvals, health and safety issues and European legislation.'
Until the end of 2012, Dave Dossett will continue on a part time basis as President of Cenelec, the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization, and as advisor to the BEAMA Board and its CEO, its new team in Installation, and on standards and industry issues.
He will also complete his term as Immediate Past Chairman of the Electrical Safety Council, which finishes March 2011.
