The plumbing industry crowned Nathan Cummings the UK's SkillPLUMB champion for coming top in a three day contest in Birmingham.
Employed by David Cummings & Sons in Elgin and trained by Moray College, Nathan, aged 19, competed against nine others in practical tests involving installing pipework, valves and jointing.
SummitSkills, the Sector Skills Council for building services engineering, hosted the SkillPLUMB finals on October 21 at Interbuild 2009 in Birmingham. Ian Livsey, SummitSkills chair, presented the Gold, Silver and Bronze winners with prizes, which included an engraved trophy and a cash prize.
Nathan Cummings, said: 'It's fantastic to be the 2009 UK SkillPLUMB champion. My employers and Moray College have been really supportive and I would like to give them special thanks.'
Winner of the Silver SkillPLUMB award was 22-year-old Stephen Worrall, employed by City Response in Oldham and trained by Manchester College.
Ashley McFarland, 21, employed by Marcus Johnston in County Tyrone and trained by South West College, took home Bronze.
