CORGI connects up with Electrical Safety Council

The CORGI Trust and the Electrical Safety Council have announced the start of talks on a possible merger to become the UK's most influential body to promote gas and electrical safety.

Both charitable organisations hope a merger with lead to one clear voice going out to consumers and tradesmen on the subject of gas and electrical safety issues. The joint announcement was made on Friday October 5.

'I am delighted about today's announcement and the possibilities ahead,' said Mary Benwell, chair of the CORGI trust.

'Combining our skills and strengths gives us the potential to increase our capacity to improve customer safety on all matters relating to gas and electrical installations.'

The Electrical Safety Council, a consumer safety body deals with all electrical safety matters on behalf of consumers. 'This is an exciting step for the organisation', said David Dossett, chairman of the ESC.

'CORGI and the ESC have each recognised the importance of providing easily accessible support and advice to installers to help them work to an advanced safety level'.
