CIBSE Scotland to host building services growth conference

The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers in Scotland will bring together building services engineers from across the country on Tuesday March 20 at a conference focusing on growth opportunities across the Scottish building services sector. 

Topics covered at the event will include building performance, energy, sustainability, soft landings, new and upcoming policy changes, facilities management and maintenance, fire safety, project management, mechanical and electrical services, case studies and opportunities for growth in the construction industry in Scotland.

Alistair Murray, UK leader of Arup Fire will speak on the future of construction industry standards from a fire safety perspective, while Chris Stark, director of energy and climate change for the Scottish Government will discuss the current and future regulatory environment. 

Also speaking is Ann Allen, executive director of Estates and Commercial Services at the University of Glasgow, who will give a client’s viewpoint of the opportunities for services related to building design and construction. Meanwhile, Toby Jeavons, associate partner at Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, will provide an insight into the new Macallan Distillery project. 

Industry representatives speaking at the conference include Zeb Ahmed, deputy managing director of Bouygues; Tamsin Tweddell, senior partner at Max Fordham; and Ant Wilson MBE, director at AECOM.

CIBSE president Peter Wong said: “I welcome the first ever CIBSE Scotland conference as an opportunity to focus on the interests and concerns of the industry in Scotland and to hear about forthcoming opportunities for businesses in the country.” 

The event will also play host to a panel debate on industry needs.

This is the first time CIBSE Scotland has held a conference focused on the interests and concerns of the industry in Scotland.

Of interest to building services designers and installers, electrical and lighting engineers, facilities managers, architects, construction professionals and students, the conference will take place on Tuesday March 20 2018 at the Technology Innovation Centre, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow.
