Buderus bridges heating gap at Bridgend Hotel

Cold spots in an old country house may be an excuse for some to send in an exorcist but at Coed-Y-Mwstwr Hotel in Coychurch, Bridgend it was a case of bringing in Buderus to replace two outdated heating and hot water boilers with one of its own heating systems.

An energy survey of the hotel by the government agency Resolve resulted in it recommending a new complete solution for an integrated heating and hot water system to meet the needs of the 28-bedroom hotel.

Commercial heating systems specialist, Buderus advised the hotel on a energy and cost efficient system for the hotel. The Coed-Y-Mwstwr Hotel now has one single heating system.

The new system features a 140kW output Buderus GE315 cast iron boiler and a Buderus 4211 modular controls package to provide a controlled, efficient solution to meet the heating and hot water needs of the hotel, whereas the previous system only met part of the need.

While the age of the property did not make renewal of the system a straightforward job, hotel staff noted the cost savings, improved efficiency and the fact that no rooms are left “out in the cold” at the far reaches of the system.

The Buderus technical support team worked with local heating contractor LD Powles on the system design, installation and commissioning. The system is expected to pay for itself within two years.
