BSRIA technical manager speaks in Hong Kong

Celebrating its 10 year, Eco Expo Asia is the pre-eminent trading platform for green businesses in Asia, where industry experts and internationally renowned brands gather at AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong from 28-31 October 2015.

Tom Jones, technical manager of the compliance department at BSRIA, recently gave a series of successful speeches at prestigious industry events in Hong Kong.

These included – the Eco Asia Expo, the Euro Chamber of Commerce Environment Seminar, the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers and the HAESCO Energy Matters Seminar 2015 – regarding energy efficiency in buildings.

Tom’s seminars specifically covered how air leakage is measured, the effect of regulations on air leakage in the UK and the impact on energy of reducing air leakage. He also summarised air tightness standards. He explained the history and impact of building regulations from the UK perspective, as there are no standards used in Hong Kong presently. He then explained the standards used to test and assess buildings in Europe today and the resulting energy savings expected.

He said: “This was an excellent opportunity for attendees to hear about some of the energy efficiency best practice measures BSRIA is involved in and promotes. I was delighted to have been asked to speak at these esteemed events so that industry experts in Hong Kong can gain some valuable nuggets of the vital work being carried out in the UK in these fields. I was among some very eminent speakers – including Ms Christine Loh Kung-wai JP OBE, Under Secretary for the Environment.”
