Biomass heating systems could give greater opportunities for the heating installation industry if installers committed time to understanding the market.
That is the message from Simon Holden, chairman of Euroheat, a leading UK biomass equipment supplier.
'The stage is set for biomass to expand quickly,' said Holden. 'Enquires are growing rapidly as more customers, especially those in larger homes in the countryside, or other buildings, like churches and schools, want to minimise their fuel bills and cut their dependence on oil. Work is going begging.'
What is missing reports Euroheat is installers who have seen how the biomass market is different to the everyday gas boiler market. Biomass requires a wider view of the customers heating needs, the availability of suitable wood and the means to store and move it.
'None of this is particularly hi-tech,' suggests Holden 'But it is a move away from - pick a boiler, put it in, thank you and goodnight!'
Installers who have teamed up with Euroheat have found the detailed approach means customers appreciate the advice and expertise they are offered and are prepared to invest in a well-designed, well-installed system. Good for them and very good for the installer,' stated Euroheat.
