BIFM management changes announced

The British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) has re-organised its management staff to better 'weather the economic storm'.
New heads have been appointed to lead the institute's business units and different roles have been given to the executive directors of BIFM.

The institute has put in place new heads for its business units and different roles for BIFM's executive directors.

The Bishop's Stortford head office will now be organised under four 'business units' - Member Services, Awarding Body, Business Development and Enterprise, and Finance and Resources.

BIFM's finance director and company secretary Philip Margesson, who has been working on a consultancy basis since April 2008, will stand down. The new head of Finance and Resources is qualified accountant Gareth Tancred, who has worked as a finance director in online retailing and healthcare.

Jonathan Bayly joins the institute as chief operating officer and company secretary replacing the interim COO Louise Douglas.

BIFM's knowledge director Stephen Bennett takes on a new role as strategy director.

BIFM CEO Ian Fielder said: 'These changes give us a much simpler management structure, more closely aligned with our strategy and activities. The new appointments will bring new experience and thinking to the institute, ensuring we can meet the challenges ahead. I am confident that BIFM will weather the economic storm and emerge stronger.'

Selina Yankson will be head of member services (while Sarah Hunnable is on maternity leave).

Linda Hausmanis is Awarding Body Manager and Valerie Everitt is the head of the awarding body.

Founded in 1993, the institute provides education, training and networking services to more than 12,000 members - both individual professionals and organisations.
