Balfour Beatty ES wins £3.2m refurb contract

Balfour Beatty Engineering Services has been awarded a £3.2m contract by Barr Construction, working for Fife Council, to supply and install mechanical and electrical services for the refurbishment of Carnegie Leisure Centre in Dunfermline.
Work will include the refurbishment of three existing swimming pools and the upgrade of the existing sports and changing facilities. Mechanical and electrical services will also be provided for a new café and multi-purpose studios.

The project will make use of the latest solar panel technology to provide heating for the training pools; innovations being adopted on the project include the use of prefabricated skids so that major items of plant are piped-up and fitted off-site.

Balfour Beatty's contract is due for completion in Autumn 2010..
