B&ES looking for a new chief executive

Blane Judd, chief executive of the Building & Engineering Services Association (B&ES), has stepped down from the role.

He said that, following a period of reflection, he had decided that the time was right for him to seek a fresh opportunity that would employ his change management and innovation skills and experience to maximum effect.

Mr Judd joined B&ES (then HVCA) two years ago as chief executive designate, and then became chief executive on 25 July 2011.

He oversaw the successful rebranding of the association from the HVCA to B&ES in March 2012 and also contributed significantly to the process of workforce modernisation and reform through the promotion of the Building Engineering Services National Agreement (BESNA) as a single employment framework covering mechanical, electrical and plumbing operatives.

In addition, B&ES says he has contributed to the development of a 24-hour emergency helpline and supporting website designed to raise awareness among consumers of the dangers associated with carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning, which is being launched later this month.

B&ES president, Sue Sharp, said: 'Blane has worked closely with the officer team in developing a vision and strategy for the Association. That strategy provides an excellent platform for our continuing effectiveness and prosperity in the challenging years that lie ahead.'

She continued: 'The process that will lead to the appointment of a worthy successor to Blane is already in place. In the meantime, our deputy chief executive Roderick Pettigrew will be ensuring that matters continue to run smoothly throughout the transition.'
