Alfa Laval buys German heat exchanger firm

The Alfa Laval group has bought HES (Heat Exchanger Systems), a German specialist in spiral heat exchangers.

Purchased for an undisclosed sum, HES will be consolidated into the Swedish group from February 1, 2009.

In 2008, HES had sales of SEK 85 million (more than 8 million Euros) and 45 employees. HES will be integrated into Alfa Laval's Tranter business.

'With this acquisition we strengthen Tranter's product offering, especially their welded product portfolio,' said Lars Renström, president and CEO of the Alfa Laval group.

He added 'Our multibrand strategy has been successful and Tranter continues to offer their own product range under the Tranter brand through their own distribution network.'

Alfa Laval is a global supplier of heat transfer, separation and fluid handling solutions. In 2007, the group posted annual sales of about SEK 25 billion (approx. 2.7 billion Euros) The company has about 12,000 employees worldwide.
