Tom Daley, the young British diver competiting in the Beijing Olympics, was cheered on by his uncle and sponsor Kevin Selvester, director of the building services contractor ABS.
As well as paying for Tom’s family to go to the Beijing Olympics, ABS invited staff, their families and guests to a London pub to watch Tom and his diving partner Blake Aldridge compete in the syncronised pairs diving contest on August 11.
Tom, the youngest competitor at the Olympic games, and Blake were called to dive in the syncronised pairs contest, after another British diving pair pulled out of the contest. Unfortunately, the cheers of ABS staff did not stop the pair finishing eighth in the contest.
Speaking after the contest Tom's uncle Kevin Sylvester said he thought the judging was a little harsh, and highlighted that his sentiments were echoed by the sports commentator.
The result has not knocked Kevin Sylvester's spirits who will soon fly out to Beijing to cheer on 14 year-old Tom when he takes part in the individual diving contest.
