A1 Flues gears up for growth

A1 Flue Systems has made a raft of appointments as it gears up for growth in 2020.

A1's new recruits.

The company has made 11 appointments to bolster its manufacturing, estimating and installations teams - as it looks to secure more projects for office blocks, hotels, schools, public buildings and other tall structures that need flues and chimneys to connect to heating and hot water systems.

Joanne Smith has joined to head up the estimating department, which produces initial designs and costs for projects. Kirsten Richardson, Lewis Gourley and Charlotte Lound have also joined to take the team to nine.

Mitch Eley, Bradley Lane, James Waugh and Paul Robinson are all new starters in the manufacturing team at the company’s factory in Ollerton. Dean Mclean, Corey Andrews and Josh Marsh have joined the team of installers. At any one time, A1 can have up to 20 teams at various sites across the UK, fitting the systems made by company.

Completing the appointments, Andrea Evans has joined the accounts department.

Managing Director, John Hamnett, said that the company was keen to bring people in to join 135-strong team, not just to cope with current demand, but also to strengthen the capabilities of the company as it looks to the opportunities that it believes Brexit will present.

Mr Hamnett said: “We’ve been on a big recruitment drive at the back end of last year and the start of this one to fill vacancies right across our business as we continue to be successful securing contracts for flue and chimney systems.”

“We’re also looking beyond what we need as a business in the next few months because we believe the UK leaving the EU will present plenty of opportunities for us as a British manufacturer of bespoke systems – especially as a lot of our competitors use components brought in from Europe.

“Sticking to our principles of being a British manufacturer of high-quality flue and chimney systems has enabled us to develop a strong market share in the specific sector of the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) industry. We are confident that we will continue to grow our market share because the level of our expertise is unparalleled in the UK.”

Mr Hamnett added that there are more new appointments in the pipeline, saying: “We’re always looking to bring talented people in to join our team, and we are currently talking to a few individuals who could play a valuable role with us and help us to keep pushing forward.”
