One thousand new jobs could be created if heating manufacturer Bosch Thermotechnology gets the thumbs up to build a new head office to expand its manufacturing, distribution, R&D and training facilities.
Bosch Thermotechnology, owner of the Worcester and Buderus brands, is submitting an outline planning application to Wychavon District council with the aim of moving from its existing premises in Warndon, Worcester, to a new site near junction six of the M5.

A spokesman for the company said that if approved, its proposed relocation to a new site will enable the firm to move its 1,150 employees based in Warndon and create 1,000 new jobs at the company from 2012.

Bosch Thermotechnology has experienced rapid growth in recent years but the firm says it will have outgrown its Warndon facility by 2010.

Richard Soper, UK managing director at Bosch Thermotechnology, said: 'Having been in Worcester for 46 years we want to ensure that we remain in the area.

He added: 'With growing interest in renewable technologies, Bosch Thermotechnology continues to expand its product range as it continues to invest in major r&d projects. Under the Worcester brand we will, for example, be launching two new air source heat pumps in the summer of 2009 to compliment the existing range of ground source heat pumps and solar panels. Other new technologies are also being developed here in Worcester and the expansion would create new high-tech job opportunities.'

Bosch recently bought its Belgian distributor Servico N.V from Kendrion N.V., based in the Netherlands, for an undisclosed sum.

The deal signed in December 2008, is expected to strengthen the group's international Thermotechnology division. Servico N.V. employs 85 people and its core business is focused on selling and servicing Junkers products.
