Parity Projects and EAL launched a jointly developed qualification aimed at providing a 'core level of understanding' for those participants in the burgeoning property retrofit market.
From September, learning providers will be able to provide the Level 2 Qualification in
'Understanding Sustainable Refurbishment' to those wishing to work in the rapidly expanding field of sustainable refurbishment. It is aimed at participants seeking to gain access to the market in the advent of the Government's Green Deal.
Rising energy prices and environmental concerns are both driving a rapidly increasing focus on energy efficiency in the UK's homes, which account for 27 per cent of the UK's energy consumption. In response, the Government is set to launch the Green Deal in 2012, which is intended to drive the renovation of 14 million UK homes, unleashing £7 billion of investment every year and creating 250,000 new jobs. The potential size of this market is leading an increasing number of building professionals and housing managers to seek the training that will put them in the best possible position to make the most of the business opportunities it will present.
Parity Projects' and EAL's ambition is to get at least one person on every building site to a level at which they know the implications of getting something wrong whether that is from a technical point of view, or in terms of a missed opportunity and this is where our new qualification comes addresses a pressing need.
Parity Projects trialled training content at the with The Power Assessment & Training Centre at Carshalton College, Surrey, in July. To view the review report of this trial click
