Survey shows creature comforts trump heating

The British public prizes sunshine and the internet as more important than heating or air conditioning, according to a recent survey.
A survey conducted by the London Science Museum, as part of its Water Wars: Fight The Food Crisis, found that the British public find sunshine the most important thing that they need in their lives ahead of the internet and clean drinking water which ranked at no. 3.

The survey of 3,000 British adults shows the importance of creature comforts to our modern lives. A list of the top 50 things people can't do without includes access to a cooker, which ranked as no.7 and central heating ranking at no.14, ahead of other creature comforts such as a kettle and chocolate.

Less important were air conditioning which ranked at no.38, and a freezer was one of the least important items which ranked at no.49.

Most people valued a fridge as one of the most important things in life which ranked at no. 4 ahead of other amenities such as a flushing toilet which ranked at no. 9.
