Specflue opened its new northern depot in Gilcar Way, Castleford, West Yorkshire on 3 July.
Managing director, Jeremy Fry and his wife Jan, who is also purchasing director for the firm, visited the depot to join in the celebrations as the doors opened for business and the first customers arrived.
The depot is located just off junction 31 of the M62. It has created 12 new jobs for local people and provides 20,000square feet of warehouse space, a trade counter and customer parking.
Mr Fry said: “This is an important strategic step in the company’s growth and today marks the culmination of a year’s planning to get Specflue an outlet in the north that will enable us to service our customers based from the Midlands to the Scottish Border.”
He continued: “We chose Castleford as it is a pivotal point in the UK with excellent transport links. Our new depot can not only be easily accessed by our customers, but also allows us - through out fleet of new service vehicles - to fulfil our next day delivery service pledge.”
“This is just the start of Specflue’s presence in the north. Over the coming months, we are intending to increase our number of service vehicles significantly. There are also plans in the pipeline, to have a further base in Livingston, West Lothian that can service most of mainland Scotland,” he concluded.
