Scotland's boiler scrappage launches in May

From May 24, Scottish households can apply for a £400 boiler scrappage voucher to help fund the replacement of a G-rated boiler with a more efficient model.
Scotland
Around 5,000 households are expected to benefit from Scotland's new boiler scrappage scheme. Households with a G-rated boiler which convert less than 70% of fuel into heat, will qualify for a voucher to help pay the cost of a new energy saving model (certified under the Energy Saving Recommended scheme).

'Through the boiler scrappage scheme we will help people replace inefficient old boilers for new energy saving models and importantly, put money back in the pockets of householders. At the same time we are providing an economic stimulus for the heating industry, supporting jobs and helping it get through this financially difficult time,' said the Scottish government's housing minister Alex Neil on April 20.

'Like many other industries the plumbing and heating sector has been badly hit by the recession and the scheme will prove a boost to many of our member businesses,' said Scottish and Northern Ireland Plumbing Employers Federation director Robert Burgon.

From May 24, households will be able to apply online or over the phone through the Scottish government's Energy Saving Scotland advice network on 0800 512 012. The scheme will operate on a first come, first served basis and will last until all the funds have been allocated.

I applied online on May 24, 2010 for the above and tried for quotes without success

Now advised that scheme closed on 27 May!

What now? As I live in 1st floor flat built in 1857 I am not interested in insulation schemes!
