RHI tariffs for biomass to increase from April 1

OFGEM has announced that the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) tariffs for solid biomass will be increasing from April 1, 2012
The Tier 1 rate for 200kW or below has increased to 8.3p from 7.9p and the Tier 2 rate for 200-1,000kW has increased to 5.1p from 4.9p

RHI tariffs will be reviewed once a year for the scheme's duration. Changes to RHI tariffs will be made in line with the relative increase or decrease in the Retail Price Index (RPI).

So the RHI tariffs have increased to factor in an RPI increase of 4.8 per cent during the 2011/2012 financial year.

Biomass boiler systems supplier Treco has launched an RHI calculator showing the installed cost of a biomass boiler system, potential earnings from the scheme over 20 years, fuel savings and the payback period. Click here for details.
