Bosses at a four-star hotel have been told a noisy kitchen extractor fan is disturbing the neighbourhood's peace.
The Edinburgh hotel's efforts to keep a clean kitchen environment have resulted in inspectors from environmental health visiting the premises to check noise levels.
Inspectors entering the hotel's kitchen last June and October confirmed the ventilation extractor fan was a nuisance for local neighbours. A noise abatement notice was served, giving the hotel 40 days to comply, which it failed to do.
While the volume coming from the kitchen couldn't be turned down, complaints from residents venting their anger continued.
The City of Edinburgh council is expected to take enforcement action against the hotel when councillors meet to discuss the noisy ventilation system at a planning committee meeting next week.
Hotel bosses insist if its system were as noisy as neighbours claim its guests would have complained.
The ventilation system was inherited from the building before it was turned into a hotel and in the past year, several contractors have been enlisted to try to stop the noise.
