Mitsubishi Electric introduces new CPD guides

Two new CPD-certified guides covering the London Plan and Part L of the Building Regulations have been launched by Mitsubishi Electric.

Two new CPD-certified guides covering the London Plan and Part L of the Building Regulations have been launched by Mitsubishi Electric.

The independent industry information guides are designed to boost knowledge of customers and give a view of the key issues facing the heating industry.

The London Plan is a comprehensive vision of the capital's objectives for its economy, environmental performance, transport and social structure. As Europe's biggest city, it covers a total area of 1,572sq km and has a population of 7.56 million. It is forecast to continue to grow with the population exceeding nine million by 2021 and almost 10 million by 2031. The Plan sets out an integrated economic, environmental, transport and social framework for the development of the capital to 2031.

The CPD Guide explains the objectives, the impact, approaches to heating and energy generation and the potential of heat pumps for the plan. The guide also contains a case study of an application that uses the River Thames to heat its building stock. The free guide can be downloaded at Mitsubishi Electric’s dedicated document library:

Part L of the Building Regulations deals with the conservation of fuel and power in domestic and commercial buildings. The legislation covers new-build and refurbishment projects and is a section of the Building Regulations that has been updated regularly since 2002, and in April 2014 the latest version, which is known as Part L (2013), came into force.

The Guide runs through the background of Part L, how compliance is shown & the obligation to install low carbon technologies.  It then runs through other European legislation that potentially affects the application of heat pumps. To download the guide visit:
