MHIAE launches future-ready ZT RAC units ready for Summer 2026

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Air Conditioning Europe (MHIAE) has introduced its next-generation residential air conditioning range, the ZT Series.

Building on the proven performance of the ZS Series, the ZT range has been re-engineered with a refined design to deliver higher energy efficiency, simplified installation and servicing and low noise operation. The indoor units will be available in three elegant colour options, while the outdoor units will come in two finishes, including the highly sought-after Jet Black. Mass production of the ZT is scheduled for December 2025 and will be available for installation in Summer 2026 projects.

Improved performance and efficiency

The ZT indoor units incorporate a newly designed heat exchanger, a high-efficiency fan motor, and an enlarged fan blower diameter, achieving better airflow to deliver a long reach of up to 11m[1]. In addition, the ZT Series offers two silent operation modes - Silent and Ultra Silent. In Ultra Silent mode, sound levels are reduced by up to 9dB achieving noise levels as low as 36 dB(A) [2] while still maintaining the unit’s powerful performance.

Achieving higher SEER and SCOP ratings than the ZS range, the ZT units set a new benchmark for energy efficiency and environmental sustainability, ensuring users benefit from reduced energy costs and a lower carbon footprint. The ZT also maintains efficient operation at nominal heating capacity even when outdoor temperatures fall to -10 °C[3].

Sleek, modern design

The ZT indoor unit has been carefully refined to deliver a sleek, contemporary profile. The smooth, uniform shape and new flush side profile allow for a closer fit to the wall, maximising space efficiency while creating a clean, unobtrusive appearance.

To suit modern interiors, the ZT indoor units are available in three colour finishes: Snow White, Matte Texture Black, and Titanium Black, with outdoor units offered in Stucco White and Jet Black. The range spans five capacities, from 2.0 kW to 5.0 kW, providing flexibility for various room sizes and applications.

Simplified installation and maintenance

Ease of installation has been a key design focus. A new rigid installation board and improved structural rigidity allow for minimal wall gaps and greater precision in mounting. For servicing, the fan blower and air grille can be easily removed for cleaning without disassembling the heat exchanger or controller, helping to reduce maintenance time and cost.

The ZT also introduces a new optional downward-piping outlet at the bottom of the indoor cover, giving installers greater flexibility and convenience during setup.

Smart connectivity

ZT units feature integrated Wi-Fi and full compatibility with MHIAE’s Smart M-Air app, allowing users to control, monitor, and schedule their air conditioning from a smartphone or tablet[4]. A major enhancement for the ZT Series is its expanded energy-tracking capability. The app now provides detailed energy-use graphs, showing power consumption, efficiency, heating and cooling capacity, outdoor temperature and set indoor temperatures. These insights provide users a clear understanding of their system’s performance and energy consumption throughout the day, month or year. Additional smart functions include remote access and intelligent alerts, such as notifications when the unit remains operational while the building is unoccupied. By combining intelligent technology with energy insights, the ZT unit delivers enhanced comfort, convenience and control.
An optional wired remote control interface kit (SC-BIKN-BL) can also be installed inside the indoor unit’s access door. This enables connection to a wired remote controller, providing centralised control capabilities such as switching the unit on or off, adjusting temperature and fan speed, and setting timers.

Future-ready design

Looking ahead to the industry’s refrigerant transition, the ZT series has been designed with future low-GWP refrigerants in mind. The unit’s internal layout includes dedicated space for additional safety components, ensuring adaptability and long-term compliance with future regulatory standards.
