J S Wright staff raise £3,655 for British Heart Foundation

Staff from building services provider J S Wright have raised £3,655 for the British Heart Foundation after taking part in the London to Brighton Bike Ride.

Staff from building services provider J S Wright have raised £3,655 for the British Heart Foundation after taking part in the London to Brighton Bike Ride.

The 17 engineers and office workers more than doubled the amount the company raised for the charity from last year’s event.

The mix of inexperienced to seasoned cyclists pedaled inexhaustibly along the 54-mile route from Clapham Common to Brighton, including a daunting mile-long climb over Ditchling Beacon at the 50-mile mark.

The J S Wright team was made up of: Peter “Pinky” Duhig, George Garner, Robin Thorne, Phil Barlow, Mehmet Emin, Peter Lawrence, Lewis Riley, James Tomlin, John Darby, Paul Featherston, Phil Leech, Anthony Shodimu, Julie Walker, Tino de Freitas, Brett Ferguson, Kieran McLaughlin and Dave Smith. Gerry Rae was forced to pull out the day before due to injury.

Contracts director Phil Leech said: “Many of our riders trained tirelessly in all weathers to prepare for this ultimate challenge – and I congratulate everyone for raising such a fantastic amount for the British Heart Foundation.”

He added: “Thanks go to our clients, suppliers and colleagues for their sponsorship and support – and especially to our London office manager Christine Weisztort who not only worked hard with our sponsors but made sure we were all at the start line at the right time and was there waiting at the finish with our bags!
