UK businesses could save more than £400m a year by taking simple actions to improve the efficiency of their hot water boilers, according to new guidance published today (29 February) by the Carbon Trust.
New research by the Carbon Trust shows that heating and hot water accounts for more than a third of UK businesses' energy consumption and up to 60% of the carbon emissions from some UK industrial processes where demand for steam or hot water is high.
However, heating costs can be cut by up to 30% by introducing some simple boiler-related energy saving measures. The guidance explains that immediate energy savings of 10% can be achieved through better maintenance and low cost improvements, such as installing insulation and retrofitting controls.
