DSL was founded in 1986 and became an HVCA member in 1999. Its customer base includes government agencies, schools and health authorities as well as private sector organisations.

DSL said Burton's experience of both the contracting and consulting disciplines, as well as his position within the HVCA, meant that he brought a unique set of skills to his new position.

'My colleagues and I are delighted to welcome Martin to the DSL management team and look forward to working with him in taking forward the business - especially in the increasingly important area of renewable technologies', said DSL managing director Ron Bryant.

Formerly a director of H W Sladden Commercial of Canterbury, Martin Burton will succeed to the HVCA presidency in July 2010.

Burton has been a member of the Council of the Association since 2005, a chairman of its commercial and contractual committee since 2007 and HVCA representative on the board of the Specialist Engineering Contractors' (SEC) Group since 2006.
