Heating contractor and consultant GW Sparrow has been acquired by GreenSquare Group, a housing and regeneration agency.
Formed in April 2008, GreenSquare includes Oxford Citizens Housing Association and Westlea Housing, commercial subsidiary Oakus Estates, and in-house construction firm Tidestone. The Swindon-based company also works in partnership with Grand Designs broadcaster Kevin McCloud's company Hab in the joint venture Hab Oakus.
As well as managing and improving its current 10,000 homes, GreenSquare seeks to provide a range of new homes, from social and affordable rent, to market rent, to homes for sale.
GW Sparrow is a family business, established in 1974, providing plumbing and heating services across Wiltshire. Managing director Robert Sparrow will continue to head the business as it develops further.
Tom Pritchard, GreenSquare's director of commercial management, said: 'We are delighted to bring this successful and profitable business into GreenSquare's ownership via our commercial subsidiary Oakus. GW Sparrow is already a company with firm foundations and a long-established customer base and we think that, under our ownership, the company has great scope to further develop and grow in the future. The company has increasingly been involved in renewable energy installations and this is of particular interest to us as it will be brilliant to have this expertise within the Group.'
Robert Sparrow, managing director of GW Sparrow, added: 'I am delighted with the sale of the family business to an established and proven growing organisation. The future of GW Sparrow is exciting and we look forward to working together for growth in all sectors especially renewable energy installations.'
