Fan Coil Units: Ability Projects' fcus used in high grade Birmingham complex centre

FOUR-PIPE fan coil units, manufactured by Ability Projects, Wimborne, Dorset, will form the basis of new air conditioning for the prestigious 35 Newhall Street, Birmingham, office development.
Fan Coil Units: Ability Projects
One of the few significant commercial projects currently underway in Birmingham City centre and due for completion early next year, the Newhall Street complex is being extensively refurbished on behalf of West Midlands Metropolitan Authorities Pension Fund at a cost of £7million. After being stripped back to its frame, the building will be fitted with enlarged floors from 1st to 4th levels and a new 5th floor will be added. When complete, 35 Newhall Street will be 16,000ft2 larger than its predecessor and will offer around 55,000ft2 of Grade A office accommodation.

Ability Projects is supplying 100 Trojan 4-pipe horizontal chassis - type fan coil units with capacities up to 5kW (cooling) and 3kW (heating) for installation in the false ceilings on each floor. Installation is being carried out by Mitie Engineering Services, Tamworth, Staffs.

Although based on simplified design precepts, Trojan retains performance related components - fans, motors and coils - common to other Ability fan coil units. Trojan enables Ability to offer the building services market a highly cost effective, rapid delivery solution for competitive projects without reductions in quality or performance.

Design flexibility, however, is still inherent in the Trojan unit with squared or mitred discharge plenums, inlet plenum options and virtually any combination of spigots and blanks on demand.
