Factory fire prompts Heatrae Sadia md response
On the evening of September 10, a fire broke out in an annex of Heatrae Sadia's factory. The fire was reported at 11.45pm and continued until 5am the following morning. The fire had to be tackled by 70 firefighters and 11 members of the emergency services were sent to hospital with smoke inhalation. At the time, the fire forced the firm to outsource some work to another firm. This work is now being done in-house again by the factory.

Paul Rivett, Heatrae Sadia's managing director, said: 'As a leading, responsible manufacturer, we have a strong and effective contingency plan in place, so are well-equipped to cope with any incidents that could potentially affect our business. Following the recent fire - which was isolated to just one self-contained area - production was back up and running in record time. Our customers can rest assured that the quality of our products, service levels, delivery times, dedication and commitment are the same as they have always been - as should be expected from the UK's leading water heating manufacturer'.

The company employs 250 people at its Norwich site, where it manufactures water heating solutions. At the time of the fire only 17 employees were in the building. All were evacuated and uninjured. An investigation into the cause of the fire is on-going.
