Last month heat pumps and hvac distributor ESS (Environmental Site Supplies) took a group of UK consulting engineers to experience the best of Italian engineering design.

In Bergamo, the group visited gas absorption heat pumps (GAHPs) specialist Robur, and in Maranello, just outside Modena, they visited the famous Museo Ferrari.

Robur hosted the visit to its factory and production departments, presenting the company and its technology. Robur has embraced Ferrari’s ethos of excellence in the production of both its commercial heat pumps and its new domestic, gas powered 18kw monoblock, which is currently on test at the factory and due for release in 2015.

The engineers were impressed by the Italian company’s positive spirit and passion for what they do. ESS managing director, Kevin Pacey, said: “Ferrari represents the epitome of engineering and aesthetic design and grown men are often reduced to tears by the beauty of the world’s most famous car maker. Our guests didn’t cry over the Robur heat pumps, but they were exceptionally impressed by the technology.”

One of the group expressed his thanks the hosts by writing, “The ingenuity of the products and the professionalism, passion and belief in them which came across from the Robur team was inspirational. I was very impressed with the entire set-up and especially with the fact that the majority of the components are designed and purpose made within the factory.”

ESS sales director Leon Sunkin said: “It was a life-enhancing experience for the group as they are all so passionate about engineering design.”
