ECA joins forces with Considerate Constructors Scheme

The Electrical Contractors’ Association (ECA) has linked up with the socially responsible construction body, Considerate Constructors Scheme, to promote best practice across the industry.

The Electrical Contractors’ Association (ECA) has linked up with the socially responsible construction body, Considerate Constructors Scheme, to promote best practice across the industry.

The move by the ECA represents the next step in its efforts to maintain a positive image for building activity and improve working practices throughout the building services supply chain.

In addition, the ECA has a preferential arrangement with the Considerate Constructors Scheme, which allows member-firms to receive a discount on registration.

Paul Reeve, ECA director of business, said: “The ECA is delighted to link up with the Considerate Constructors Scheme, and we look forward to promoting its ‘Code of Considerate Practice’ across the building services engineering sector.”

Chief executive of the Considerate Constructors Scheme, Edward Hardy, added: “M&E contractors comprise a significant part of the construction industry and have a very important role to play in contributing to an improved image of the industry. We are therefore delighted that the ECA is a Scheme Supporter, to help champion the principles of the Considerate Constructors Scheme to its members.

“We look forward to more contractors registering with this voluntary Scheme, to continually raise standards in line with the Scheme’s Code of Considerate Practice.”

The Considerate Constructors Scheme promotes a ‘Code of Considerate Practice’ which aims to ensure construction firms engage with local communities, control environmental impacts, ensure safety in and around building sites, and value their workforce. It was founded in 1997 and is supported by a range of industry bodies, clients and major building companies.
