DAB Pumps urges merchants and installers to prioritise compliance when selecting domestic circulating pumps

A series of official safety warnings and enforcement notices issued in Ireland have brought renewed attention to the critical importance of product compliance in the heating and plumbing sector. DAB Pumps is calling on UK and Irish merchants and installers to take a firm stand against the distribution and installation of non-compliant circulating pumps, which pose a risk to consumer safety and to the reputation of the professional trade.

In October 2025, the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) in Ireland issued a Product Safety Warning highlighting the serious risks associated with certain branded circulating pumps, which failed to meet essential EU safety requirements. The affected models were found to pose potential fire hazards, lacked proper safety certifications, and were missing key documentation, such as user manuals and technical files. A further Product Safety Information Notice released in December 2025 reiterated these concerns and urged consumers to stop using the pumps immediately.

DAB Pumps fully supports the actions of the CCPC and condemns the sale and installation of unsafe, non-compliant circulating pumps. The company is encouraging all stakeholders in the supply chain - from distributors and merchants to heating engineers - to carry out due diligence and verify that the products they supply or fit meet the full requirements of the Low Voltage Directive (LVD), the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive, and relevant CE marking obligations.

“Low-cost products that circumvent safety and compliance standards do not belong in our market,” says Adam Ferneyhough, Country Director for the UK & Ireland at DAB Pumps. “They put end users at risk and compromise the integrity of our industry. We stand behind our merchant and installer partners who continue to uphold the highest standards of safety and compliance.”

Merchants and installers are urged to remain vigilant when selecting products, especially in cases where price points appear too good to be true. Choosing a compliant, tested product not only protects end users but also shields professionals from potential liability, reputational damage, and call-backs linked to unsafe or underperforming products.

DAB Pumps remains committed to supporting the professional heating trade with reliable, fully compliant solutions and clear technical guidance.
