BSRIA director speaking at Build2Peform Live

BSRIA is fielding an expert speaker at the CIBSE Build2Perform Live event, taking place on November 21-22 2017 at Olympia, London.

Mike Smith, BSRIA engineering director.

Engineering director Mike Smith will be speaking on Tuesday November 21, discussing HIU testing, standards and selection.

Free to attend, Build2Perform Live is the biggest, most significant two-day interactive event dedicated to helping built environment professionals and the wider supply chain improve efficiency and save money through effective building services.

Evolving from the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineer’s (CIBSE) Building Performance Conference and Exhibition, this new event offers more interactive features and multiple seminar streams, encompassing an entire floor at London’s Olympia Exhibition Centre.

Features include:

  • Five different presentation areas – multiple seminar streams with expert speakers covering a wide range of subjects relevant to built environment professionals.
  • Headline acts – stimulating talks from prestigious keynote speakers addressing the issues facing the building performance industry.
  • CPD theatres – exhibitors will be delivering valuable CIBSE accredited CPD presentations.
  • More exhibitors than ever before – see exhibitor list.

Mr Smith’s technical career has spanned senior roles at BSRIA since 1988, and his research achievements for the industry as a whole have driven his own personal contribution to CIBSE. Through the Publications and Research Delivery Committee (PROD), and later the Knowledge Committee, Mr Smith has ensured vital consistency between CIBSE publications and BSRIA’s research. Disseminating improvements and a vital fulcrum for introducing standards and broadening knowledge, Mr Smith has been contributing to the Knowledge Committee since it was remodelled.

He commented: “This is an excellent speaking opportunity for BSRIA and we are delighted to be supporting the symposium. In collaboration with members and industry, BSRIA is at the coalface in constantly developing standards to test Heat Interface Units (HIU).

“It is crucial to remember that standard testing allows for a means of comparison between manufacturers and creates a level playing field across the industry, while also serving as a reference point for manufacturers, contractors and the end user.

“BSRIA combines its expertise and purpose built test facility to provide clients with testing that conforms to this standard and technical guidance to meet the design specification.

“Clearly, this symposium will deliver the latest intelligence on this and much more.”
