Big chill means demand for tradesmen is hot

One in five UK households ‘called out’ emergency trades services during the Christmas holidays.
In a survey on 1395 UK adults carried out between December 4-10 by Tickbox for Budget Van Insurance, 20% said they had to call out tradesmen over the festive period.

The majority of call-outs were for plumbers (46%), 13% central heating engineers and 9% gas service providers or electricians.

Of those who called-out tradesmen, the majority, 33%, paid between £50-£100 for the service, excluding any parts needed to complete the job.

'The cold weather is likely to put the UK's army of tradesmen under more pressure than usual with more leaks and burst-pipes highly likely.  Also problem boilers put under even more strain over the festive period with more people are spending time at home', said Lisa Corston from Budget Van Insurance.
