Balfour Beatty Engineering Services (BBES), one of the UK’s largest mechanical and electrical building services businesses, has been awarded a £6.7million contract by Vinci to design and install mechanical and electrical services for a new primary care and treatment centre in Birkenhead on the Wirral for Wirral NHS Trust.
A three-year project will see existing facilities demolished and a new building, St Catherine's Community Health Centre, constructed.
BBES is responsible for the enabling works, construction of a new plant room to serve the existing estate and the full m&e services of a new five-storey 11,000m
2 health centre facility.
Services will include women's health, physiotherapy, mental healthcare, podiatry, imaging and community-based GP services.
IHP (which is a joint venture between Vinci and Sir Robert McAlpine) is the appointed contractor under the P21 process headed by Vinci. The architect, One Creative Environments, is responsible for the design of the building.
