Arjowiggins extends Cofely's CHP management contract

Cofely, a GDF SUEZ company, has signed a five-year contract extension with Arjowiggins Paper Group to provide energy and utilities management for the CHP energy centre at the company's tracing paper manufacturing facility at Chartham Mill, Kent.
Arjowiggins extends Cofely
The contract extension builds on a long term relationship that has seen Cofely implement a management programme to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions, supporting Arjowiggins' strong commitment to energy sustainability.

Chartham Mill is the only tracing paper manufacturing facility in the UK and first started producing paper in 1738. It typically runs two machines, with a site steam load of 18 tonnes/hour and a site electrical load of 4.5MW.

Cofely's original contract to design, build, finance and operate the CHP energy centre began in 1993.

Cofely has developed a specialist operational model designed to ensure the energy centre runs at maximum efficiency against multiple energy-related scenarios. The company said plant configuration is optimised after analysis of electricity import/export prices, gas price, and site electrical and thermal demands.
