ACRIB praises new qualifications

New specialist diplomas in refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pumps from City & Guilds have been welcomed by ACRIB (the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Industry Board).
Paul Mills, chairman of the ACRIB Education & Training Committee, said: 'At a recent ACRIB Education and Training Committee meeting, we were delighted to hear of CGLI's latest initiative in releasing new Level 2 and Level 3 Diploma qualifications in refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump systems.'

Designated CGLI 7189, the qualification includes practical assignments, externally set and marked theory exams, F Gas certification recognition and is expected to attract the funding.

Units cover refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump installation, commissioning, service and maintenance as well as safe working practices, environment, electrical and scientific principles in RACHP.

ACRIB will recognise the 7189 for the ACRIB Skillcard which provides evidence of refrigerant handling qualifications, as it includes F Gas Certification.

Mr Mills added: 'Although it is normally the role of the City & Guilds London Institute and its recognised training centres to promote these vocational courses, with more choice, this particular option merits immediate recognition as it combines refrigeration and air conditioning competences within a single qualification and therefore matches our sector competence requirements.'

The ACRIB website (www.acrib.org.uk) has been updated with information about the range of diplomas and certificates now available from City & Guilds.
