Wilo UK has been awarded CEMARS certification following an arduous 18 month process.
To become CEMARS certified, companies' greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions have to be measured in accordance with ISO 14064-1. They then make a commitment to managing and reducing their GHG emissions by creating an emissions management and reduction plan.
GHG emissions included in the organisations' measurement include all Scope 1 (direct emissions e.g. company owned vehicles), Scope 2 (indirect emissions e.g. purchased electricity) and mandatory Scope 3 emissions (indirect emissions that are not directly under the organisations control e.g. employee business travel).
Organisation measurement focuses more on the business as a whole and does not extend significantly along the product supply chain.
Wilo sales director, Simon Oakes, said: 'We are proud to have the CEMARS certification since it demonstrates that carbon reduction matters to Wilo and it fits perfectly into the worldwide Wilo Environmental Policy.'
