Vokera voices disappointment over RHI delays

Vokera has welcomed the extension to the RHPP (Renewables Heat Premium Payment) scheme but says it is still disappointed about delays to the domestic RHI (Renewable Heat Incentive).
Managing director, Steve Cipriano, said: 'We are encouraged that a second phase of the RHPP has been launched and that it's worth £10 million more than the original scheme; £25 million rather than £15 million. The other big positive is the inclusion of community schemes and more social housing, which will undoubtedly help to boost uptake.

'However, Vokera, like many companies in the heating industry, is bitterly disappointed that the actual domestic RHI part of the scheme, which will provide homeowners with ongoing tariffs for the renewable heat they produce, is taking so long to get up and running. The industry has been geared up for this initiative for a long time - manufacturers have invested heavily in new products and installers have spent time and money on training.

'Of the original £15 million from the first phase, only £9 million has actually been allocated (at 20 March 2012), which leads us to surmise that perhaps more needs to be done to promote the funds that are available. Furthermore, out of 6,844 vouchers issued to households only 3,952 have been redeemed' (at 26 March 2012).
