Toshiba named official sponsor of Rugby World Cup 2015

Toshiba Corporation has been appointed an Official Sponsor of the Rugby World Cup 2015, renewing the company’s support for the biggest tournament in rugby for the third consecutive time.

Toshiba Corporation has been appointed an Official Sponsor of the Rugby World Cup 2015, renewing the company’s support for the biggest tournament in rugby for the third consecutive time.

The event will see 48 matches take place across England and Wales from 18 September 18 to 31 October 2015.

Toshiba’s association spans the breadth of its business activities, including air conditioning, digital products, medical imaging, social infrastructure and multi-functional printers. The company will support the tournament by providing its products to help facilitate the running of the event.

With a long heritage in rugby, and in addition to sponsoring the Rugby World Cup in 2007 and 2011, last year Toshiba became the Official Sponsor of the Japanese men’s team and is supporting their participation again in 2015.

Noriaki Hashimoto, corporate vice president – EMEA, Toshiba Corporation, said: “Toshiba is delighted to be continuing its successful partnership with the Rugby World Cup. The tournament is one of the world’s greatest sporting events, and we are looking forward to playing our part in bringing the power and passion of the games to a bigger audience than ever before.”

Murray Barnett, Rugby World Cup head of commercial broadcast and arketing, said: “Toshiba is a world leader and innovator in pioneering technology, and with the expanded reach of the Rugby World Cup we are working together to reach people wherever and whenever they are watching, talking about or playing rugby.”

In the build up to and during the tournament, Toshiba will initiate a range of activities to enhance its association and engage spectators with the event. This will include perimeter boards at each match of the tournament as part of a larger advertising and promotional programme.

Activity will be focussed on regions where rugby is most popular, including Europe, Japan, Oceana and Africa.
