Timoleon first to standardize on A-Rated pumps for underfloor heating and cooling

Timoleon is the UK's first specialist underfloor heating company to switch to exclusive use of A-rated pumps for maximum energy efficiency.
Timoleon first to standardize on A-Rated pumps for underfloor heating and cooling
'Adopting an A standard for system circulators is the logical extension of our emphasis on low carbon solutions,' said Timoleon Managing Director Darren Trivett, announcing the move.

'The high efficiency A-rated pumps we will be integrating into all our system designs could potentially save every user up to 30 Kg of carbon per year - per manifold!'

The energy labelling of pumps was introduced in 2005 by the European Association of Pumps Manufacturers better known as Europump.

Respected
Soon to celebrate its half centenary, Brussels-based Europump is one of the world's most respected trade associations, representing over 450 pump manufacturing companies in 18 countries across Europe.

The voluntary Europump energy certification scheme is completely open, so that anyone can verify pump performance. Ratings range from E up to A with most heating systems incorporating a D-rated unit.

Europump calculates that upgrading all the D-rated pumps in Europe to A could save an amazing 44 billion kWh - the equivalent of 5 nuclear power stations.

Timoleon will lead the way by standardizing on the Laing Ecocirc vario circulators (www.timoleon.ltd.uk)

These A-rated pumps reduce energy consumption in a number of ways. Units can be speed-regulated and set to match the requirements of the system during commissioning. Setting the pump to meet the actual performance required, rather than having it run at full speed at all times makes a major contribution to saving energy

Laing pumps also feature permanent magnet rotors, offering higher rpm than a conventional design and the electrically commutated motors transfer most of the heat they generate into the water, rather than venting it as waste.

An optional highly-insulated cover for the pump housing is available to further reduce heat losses.

The innovative design of the Laing Ecocirc vario range results in quiet running competitively priced pumps that make a perfect complement to Timoleon's approach to underfloor heating and cooling.
