Pimlico Plumbers to expand workforce

Pimlico Plumbers, one of London’s largest independent plumbing companies, is expanding its workforce by 25% as it continues to meet the growing demand for its range of property services.

During this year, the company will add skilled tradespeople to its 165-strong workforce to meet demand, and also expand its presence across the Capital.

Pimlico Plumbers currently handles between 1,800 and 2,000 jobs a week and receives many more enquiries from new customers in the Greater London area.

A larger workforce will also increase productivity as the company manages a shift in the size of jobs it is servicing. During the recession the number of major bathroom installation and building projects has been surpassed by a considerable rise in smaller repair jobs.

In addition to recruiting heating engineers and plumbers, Pimlico aims to employ more roofers, electricians, joiners and multi-skilled engineers as an increasing number of customers requires a range of property services from one preferred supplier.

'We are regularly swamped with unsolicited job applications and we are now in a position to turn enquiries into employment,' said Charlie Mullins, managing director of Pimlico Plumbers.

'We already service thousands of plumbing, heating and home maintenance jobs every week and we can undoubtedly grow that number, especially outside Central London.

'Customers are also looking for a company which can provide a range of home services as they manage tighter household budgets, which is why we are expanding our workforce across a range of trades.'

Mullins has also been spurred to grow his workforce based on the confidence he believes will be generated after the upcoming general election.

'I seriously believe there will be change of government at the election, which will bring a new air of confidence to the country. It will be a government that will want to work with business and make changes that will benefit firms,' he said.
